Anna Lembke is medical director of Stanford Addiction Medicine, program director for the Stanford Addiction Medicine Fellowship, and chief of the Stanford Addiction Medicine Dual Diagnosis Clinic. A clinician scholar, she is a professor of psychiatry at Stanford and has published more than a hundred peer-reviewed papers, book chapters, and commentaries. She sits on the board of several state and national addiction-focused organizations, has testified before various committees in the United States House of Representatives and Senate, keeps an active speaking calendar, and maintains a thriving clinical practice.
Today we talk to Anna about Food Addiction. She not only believes in Food Addiction she feels that in our modern day scientifically hijacked, excessively accessible food world that it is likely EVERYONE has a disordered relationship with eating and food. How could we not?? She believes these foods are drugs and she validated the withdrawal and detox that comes with removing these foods and choosing to abstain from them when we start to seek Food Addiction recovery.
