Hello Dr. Tarman:
I believe that you have added another dimension to the addiction field. Have you every considered how much emotions play a part in the addicts life? There is a program that I have been associated with for over twenty-eight years called Emotions Anonymous and I have found it helpful combatting my addiction to alcohol. There is a website for the program and I have a host of information that I have accumulated over the years. I would be interested in talking with you regarding the link between Eating Disorders, Addictions and Emotions. If interested, please contact me through the above email address or call me at 905-720-3693 H or 905-259-5273 C.

Thank you Daniel, i will look at your website for more information.
My husband is 40 years old and has asked me to find him treatment for his food addiction/obesity. This isn’t the first time I have researched for him. We have two small children and I am worried sick he will leave me a young widow and my boys without their Dad. His food addiction causes a huge stress in our family’s daily life and our marriage. I am at the end of my rope with all of the other problems created from such an addiction. Doctors simply say “Lose weight and you’ll feel better.” That doesn’t help. He needs inpatient treatment desperately.
How is your husband doing? Please feel free to call me if you need. 416-953-9464. Recovered Compulsive Eater

Dear Dr. Tarman,
Food addiction is finally getting the respect it’s due, thanks to scientifically-minded people like you and a few others. One of your colleagues in the field, Julia Ross, MFT, author of The Diet Cure (and The Mood Cure) is a founding member of the Alliance for Addiction Solutions and asked me, as the Alliance Board Chair, to extend an invitation to you to our 2.5 day weekend seminar June 8-10 titled A Clean and Sober Brain: Using Targeted Amino Acids and Other Nutrients to Eliminate Neurotransmitter Dysfunction, the Number One Cause of Addiction. There are only 44 beds at the retreat center where we are holding this seminar. Julia is the main speaker, along with Christina Veselak, LMFT, CN (certified nutritionist), who has been using amino acids and food and other pharmaceutical-free methods of brain repair for the past 20 years. The retreat center is called The Land Celebration and is located on 43 acres of lush woods with two labyrinths, a sweat lodge, swimming pond, and variety of accommodations. We intend to have a focused, high level, clinically useful experience together that weekend. Julia and Christina have such dramatically successful experience correcting brain chemistry with nutrients and foods, it feels sometimes like Galileo asking the Church Elders to look in his telescope all over again. If only our field would look and see that counseling works best if it comes after brain repair. And, drugs don’t repair brains, nutrients do! I hope you are entranced enough to meet Alliance members at the seminar and perhaps even consider joining the organization. Two members of our Board of Directors are from Canada: Teresa Kolpak, from TrueHope in Alberta, and Pam Killeen, author of Addiction: The Hidden Epidemic, from London, Ontario. We look forward to getting to know you and you, us. http://www.allianceforaddictionsolutions.org has all the details of the seminar. I’d love to talk to you about it or just about the issue of neuronutrition. Sincerely, Carolyn Reuben, L.Ac., Chair.
What is the time frame for the food addiction treatment program. Is this years away?
